Bretforton Ladies 3 Cirencester 1
SATURDAY morning's sunny weather was perfect for playing hockey and inspired Bretforton to make an excellent start.
From the outset they pushed Cirencester on to their defensive side, as casual passing moves through the midfield which caused difficulties for the Ciren-cester defence and Lisa Workman opened the scoring.
Bretforton's dominance was reinforced when Kate Williams dribbled the ball through from the midfield and scored with a powerful shot from the edge of the circle.
Cirencester began to put together some attacking moves but Bretforton's well organised defence denied them any scoring opportunities.
In the second half Ciren-cester's efforts were rew-arded with a goal from a short corner and, for a while, there was a danger that Cirencester could get back on level terms.
Sarah Hall, though, scored late in the match with a reverse stick shot to ensure another league victory for Bretforton. Jane Wheeler was named player of the match.
Bretforton have another league fixture against Shipton Oliffe on Saturday (11.30) and then a friendly fixture at Tewkesbury the next day.
