A POPULAR charity bonfire bash in Droitwich Spa was sacrificed to help emergency services keep residents safe in flood-stricken parts of the county.
Droitwich Lions had planned a fireworks display at The Castle pub, in Worcester Road.
But the event was cancelled on Thursday because the source that provides safety barriers to surround the bonfire said they were needed in flooded areas of Worcester.
The display has been running for more than five years and organisers were sad to drop plans.
The show will now take place on Saturday November 18.
Lion member John Watson said: "We could not have foreseen the circumstances and we are very sorry if people were disappointed.
"But we still have a fabulous collection of fireworks to light and we want everyone to come along and have a good time."
Admission is free but all funds raised in a bucket collection and from a pig roast will go to a meningitis research charity.
The fun kicks off at 7pm.
