FLOODS hampered the efforts of emergency services on Monday following the discovery of a small gas leak near Droitwich Spa High School.
The leak was reported at noon, in Briar Mill. Access was blocked because the River Salwarpe has burst its banks and flooded nearby King George Playing Field.
The town's firefighters were on the scene and offered assistance.
Briar Mill was closed for two hours while Transco secured the gas leak. The school was not evacuated.
Despite warnings about flooding in Ford Lane, firefighters were called to the road after a driver became trapped in his car on Monday morning. The brigade is on flood alert.
During the past week, police closed Upper Ford Lane, Pulley Lane and the Droitwich to Hanbury Road but they had been reopened when we went to press.
