REHEARSALS are under way for the next performance by the Malvern Theatre Players.
The Malvern Theatres' resident company are staging The Plotters of Cabbage Patch Corner in the Forum Theatre, from December 6 to December 9 and then from Boxing Day to December 30.
With the Malvern Theatres not staging a pantomime this year, the production offers parents the option of a play for children.
The Plotters of Cabbage Patch Corner was first presented at the Swan Theatre in Worcester, where the author David Wood was the artistic director.
It is set in the insect world of a suburban garden and follows the adventures of the creatures whose existence is overshadowed and threatened by "The Big Ones", their human neighbours.
The play has plenty of songs, lots of audience participation, "a gorgeous set" and "outrageous costumes". It is being directed by Jan Greig, one of the stars of the company's last production, Graham Greene's Travels with my Aunt, with musical direction by Jim Arthur.
It has now been cast and will feature Sue Lupton as Ladybird, Harry Harris as Ant, Andrew Howie as Slug, Lee Farley as Red Admiral, Judith Sanderson as Greenfly, Iska Lupton as Maggot, Mandy Harris as Bumble Bee, Mike Fray as The Great Mushroom and Liz Burton as Spider.
It is suitable for children three and over. Tickets are £6.50 for adults, £5 under-16s.
