A WHOLE range of Malvern's community and charity groups will be setting out their stalls on Saturday, November 4 for one of the town's major fundraising events.

The Annual Grand Combined Charity Fair is being held at the Forum, Malvern Theatres, from 10am to 3.30pm.

Organised by Community Action, the event gives local organisations the chance to have a big day of fundraising under one roof.

The event is now in its 22nd year and attracts thousands of visitors each time it is held.

One of the groups with a stall at the fair will be the Borrowers Toy Library.

Evelyn Cunningham of the library said: "It's one of the major fundraising events in our diary and we always take part.

"It's not only the money we raise there, it's also the fact that we introduce ourselves to loads of people who come to use the library. This year, we need it more than ever because we are in the process of moving into new premises in Barnards Green," she said.

Among the other groups taking part are Scout and Guide units, County Air Ambulance, Malvern CAB and the League of Friends of Malvern Community Hospital. Health charities such as the British Heart Foundation, Kidney Patients Support Group and Malvern Mencap will also have stalls.

But the best way to experience the full variety of the groups at the fair is by paying a visit, said Jill Briggs of Community Action.

"There is something for everyone, all kinds of stalls selling gifts, raffles, tombolas and so on. It really is a day out for all the family," she said.

The fair is made possible this year by the generosity of Malvern's Free-masons, who provided £1,000 sponsorship to cover the costs of staging the show. Tom Lomax, of the Freemasons, will be presenting the prize for the best-dressed stall at 11am on the day. At 3pm, Malvern Hills District Council chairman Pat Raven and Malvern's Mayor David Williams will also be there for the grand raffle.
