WITH reference to your editorial in the October 18 edition of the Evening News, it's interesting to note that although the City Arcade may well become "a cherished corner of our city" and "an essential talking point for decades to come," would we also say the same for the NCP car park on Friar Street?

And, of course, let's not forget the new multiplex cinema, also gracing Friar Street.

Who on earth decided that Friar Street, of all places, needs a cinema when we have a perfectly good cinema not 10 minutes' walk way on Foregate Street?

Obviously no lessons to be learnt here from the Giffard Hotel, then!
