KAYS 1, POWICK 5

IT took just one minute for Powick to set the scene in this game.

When Nick Price split the Kays defence from the half way line with a superb pass to Paul Ruhback wide on the left, he outpaced the defence, cut inside and found the back of the net to put Powick in the lead.

What was to follow was some excellent football from Powick and eight minutes later they were 2-0 up. With simple one touch football they cleared the ball from in their own half and ended up with Bryan Craven providing the perfect cross for Nick Price to slice the ball past the keeper.

Kays were now at sixes and sevens. Not knowing which way to turn. It was no surprise that Powick increased their lead after 20 minutes. This time Paul Atkins made a solid run from defence, crossed to Gary Henderson who cleverly flicked the ball over the advancing keeper to get the first of his brace of goals.

Kays did rally round a bit after this and had two good shots at goal, but Ben Chamberlain was in no mood to be beaten and pulled off two magnificent saves to keep them at bay. Powick soon got control of the game again and at half time the score remained 3-0.

The second half continued in the same vein, Paul Ruhback and Gareth Smith were ever busy down the flanks and Mike Pearson and Nick Price were well in control of the midfield.

In the fifteenth minute Powick were rewarded with one of the best goals of the match when Brian Craven found the top corner of the net from 25 yards after some good play by Gary Henderson.

Three minutes later Kays did pull a goal back when they were awarded a penalty after Steve Dallow was judged to have handled the ball in the box.

Any thoughts of a comeback were soon squashed two minutes later, when Gary Henderson headed home from a lovely floated ball by Phil Skilton.

Powick continued to put pressure of the Kays defence and it was only heroic saves by the home keeper that prevented any further score.

This was a good all round team performance by Powick and it was difficult to choose man of the match, but in the end it went to Nick Price.
