MALVERN PREMIERS 5, DROITWICH SPA RESERVES 3

MALVERN Premiers remained at the top of Worcester Sunday League Division Two with a 5-3 win over Droitwich Spa Reserves last Sunday.

But the Prems first half performance was poor reaching half time 3-0 down.

The second half was completely different, with the Prems regaining their prowess on the field.

Five minutes into the second half, Tim Preece was taken down in the box and his penalty goal gave the Prems new heart. From that moment there was nothing to stop them.

Lee Richardson set up the next goal with a fine cross into the box, which was magnificently headed into the top left of the goal by Lee Henderson to make it 3-2.

It was Preece who claimed the third goal when he lobbed the keeper from 15 yards to bring the scores level.

Droitwich never really came back into the game, as the Prems controlled the ball with ease. Another fine cross from Richardson gave Keith Reynolds the opportunity and with a superb shot on goal over the top of the keeper the Prems took the lead.

Nick Kordas set up the fifth goal with a cross to Scott Corner who swung round to blast the ball into the net for the 5-3 tally.

Noteworthy performances were made by Jason Griffiths, Preece, Richardson and Kordas, but man of the match went to Chris Brown for his sheer determination throughout the game.

Malvern Premier, sponsored by the Cross Keys and Scot Transformers, play away this Sunday against Wyvern United.

Players to meet at 9.15am at Victoria Park for 10.30am kick off.
