ACTUALLY, I like it as a jungle. (Kate Williams' article in the Gazette, October 13). The purpose of the 'wilderness corridor' was intended to be a barrier between the private estate on one side and the council accommodation on the other. It should, as Paul Sobczyk indicated, be allowed to grow naturally and vigorously.

In the event, wire fences have been broken down and some of the trees have been uprooted or damaged. The stream is regularly, deliberately dammed. Rubbish and litter is gratuitously distributed and the area is in the mess that you see it today.

You do not have to look far for the reason. Kids have been allowed free access to roam and plunder at will. Remonstration, which I have attempted many times, is met with the foulest of verbal abuse or worse.

The wilderness corridor is not, and never has been, intended as a place for kids to play. There is a specially built, perfectly satisfactory play area on the estate; as far as I can determine, it is rarely used.
