A MAN "lost it" in a Worcester shop after his former girlfriend told him that their relationship was definitely over.

City magistrates heard how Derek French visited Thresher's in St John's, on Wednesday, October 25.

Mark Soper, prosecuting, said his former girlfriend was working in the shop and an argument began.

"The disagreement took place inside the shop," he said. "They have taken place in the shop before on different occasions.

"After the argument he left the shop and kicked a window. It's estimated that it caused about £100 damage.

"He left the scene but police officers managed to locate him at his place of work."

French, of Osbourne House, Sansome Walk, who represented himself in court, admitted causing criminal damage.

He said he had been in a relationship with the woman for the last three years, but it had recently broken down.

"I continued to think that I could revive the relationship," he said. "I wanted to keep it going.

"I went into the shop to collect my post. She told me that I was banned from going in there, but I needed my post.

"She walked me outside the shop but I walked back in.

"I've been round to see her on previous occasions and she's really friendly. She gives me an indication that everything's OK. She blows hot and cold.

"I just lost it in the shop. I lost my temper. I asked her if there was any chance of us sorting things out and she said 'No'. I then put my foot through a window."

The case against French, aged 44, was adjourned until Tuesday, November 21, for pre-sentence reports. He was granted unconditional bail.
