Evesham and District Table Tennis League

WYRE Piddle are the early pacesetters in division two of the Evesham and District Table Tennis League.

Bengeworth Z Mick Vick beat Ian and Graham Gooderham and Graham Fisher when the Z visited Wyre, but the three Outcasts won the other six singles to bag the four points.

The Outcasts followed this with a 8-2 win over Bengeworth Lions. The Lions Geoff Clark beat Graham Fisher 21/19, 18/21, 21/15, but lost in the third to both Keith Diver and Malcolm Daley, who were both unbeaten on the night.

Malcolm Dobson made his debut for Bengeworth Sapphires and won two singles in their 6-4 victory over Littleton Loopers. Anthony Lown won his three singles for the Loopers, but Tom Urbanski's 23/21, 13/21, 21/16 win over Stefan Lasota in the ninth game put the Sapphires in front and Urbanski and Craig Norledge won the doubles 22/20, 21/10 against Lown and Bruce Ford to clinch the victory.

The same three Saphhires all beat Kath Vick in the Bengeworth derby against the Z, but Mike Vick and Vic Davis both won three singles each and together the doubles to see the Z home 7-3.

In the other Bengeworth derby 49ers beat Diamonds 8-2. Mick Baylis gave the Diamonds the lead with a 21/16, 21/10 win over Peter Roper. But Roper, Stan Owen and Sandra Wheeler won the next seven singles before Baylis stopped the rot beating Wheeler 21/16, 21/12.
