A COMEDY play which gets underway tonight is the next offering from Cookley Amateur Dramatics Society.

Holiday Snap, written by Michael Pertwee and John Chapman, is being staged at the village's Parish Hall in Lea Lane.

The action is based in a Portuguese time share villa and centres on a series of mishaps involving couples Henry and Mary, played by Eric Southan and Jo Gregory, and Eve and Leslie, played by husband and wife Adam and Julia Southan.

Their problems mount when they realise their accommodation has been double booked and the only person able to sort the dilemma out is the absent minded, short sighted alcoholic, Commander Chittenden, played by Peter Biggs.

In another twist in the performance, just when Henry thinks his luck is changing for the better, an unexpected visitor arrives at the villa to complicate matters even further.

Director Yolande Biggs said: "It's an hilarious comedy which is made to tick by Peter's performance as because he is short sighted and permanently drunk he thinks he is talking to the same couple all the time."

She added: "There are eight members of cast in total for the play, and they have all been a great success with their parts during rehearsals so we are hoping for a really good performance and turnout from the public.

"There are some wonderfully funny moments and we think the play will prove really enjoyable for those who come to watch it."

Those who want to discover if the characters end up with smiling faces can watch the play tonight, tomorrow and Saturday.

The curtain is up at 7.45pm each evening.
