I AM writing to the Evening News because I am really concerned about road safety on our roads for cyclists.

I was cycling into Worcester to start my shift as a care assistant.

On the main road, and coming out of the second bend before Broadwas, towards Worcester, a lorry swung out to overtake me without dropping speed.

The driver then quickly tried to swing his lorry in to avoid an oncoming vehicle - of course, this gave me a frightening experience.

I waved my hand at the driver in utter annoyance. A little way up the road he had slowed right down, I rode alongside him and challenged him on his terrible driving.

He said there was nothing he could do because of the oncoming vehicle. I immediately responded by saying, of course there was, slow down, and not overtake until it was safe to do so.

Of course, he did not like hearing this and so directed abuse and bad language towards me.

I had made my point so I continued. As he was about to overtake me, I emphasised with my hand to slow down, by holding the palm of my hand flat, and raising and lowering it slowly. The driver overtook me and deliberately drove slowly in front of me.

His rage and abuse was as a result of his terrible guilt at what he had done.

My anger was that I was nearly wiped off the face of the Earth by his bad, selfish driving.
