There was a really relaxed, friendly, atmosphere at Saturday's concert, when the choir was joined by soprano Susan Black, and the Band of the First Southern Brigade of the Irish Army.

The choir were in fine voice, treating us to many popular songs, including The Rose (thanks), Some Enchanted Evening, and, Nessun Dorma, which sounded surprisingly good sung by an ensemble.

Sue Black sang the beautiful Ave Maria by Caccini, which was new to me but the highlight of her performance was Kisses Like Wine by Franz Lehar, which I still can't get out of my head, however, her solo version of The Prayer did not work.

The band were brilliant, from Light Cavalry overture, to some real foot-tapping music, and their percussionist received much deserved sustained applause when he sang My Way and Love Changes Everything.

Encores of Radetsky March and Riverdance were an added bonus.

No one could ask for a better evening's entertainment. VJS.
