STOW: The Fair - This celebrated fair was held on Wednesday. There were a very large number of horses present some of them extremely fine animals. Welsh colts were very numerous and a considerable amount of business was transacted.

MORETON: Maternity ward opened - Another important chapter in the history of the Moreton Cottage Hospital was commenced on Saturday afternoon when, in pleasant weather, the newly-constructed addition to the hospital which will serve chiefly as a maternity ward, was formally opened by Mrs A Dugdale, of Sezincote House. Mrs Dugdale said the need of a maternity ward in the neighbourhood had been long felt. Since the inception in April 1923 for a special bed for maternity cases 104 babies had been born there and the present arrangements were found to be inadequate.

Cotswolds: A refusal by Shipston Rural District Council, upheld by a Government inquiry, to grant planning extension to the Norgreen Co. Ltd. for their factory at Shipston was debated at the Council meeting on Saturday. A letter from Shipston Parish Council pressing for the matter to be reconsidered was followed by a discussion, but the Council declined to alter the decision.

Cotswold: Alarmed at the closure of so many village post offices, the Cotswold District Council is pressing The Post Office for a mobile van to tour the area once a week.
