OCTOBER 27, 1900

STRATFORD: Burglaries - The last it appears has not been heard of the person or persons who broke into the Unicorn Hotel and Bell Inn, Shottery, for inhabitants of this town were once more made aware of their unwelcome presence by the continuance of their nefarious operations.

October 24, 1925

STRATFORD: Rural District Council - The medical officer of health reported that since the last meeting three cases of scarlet fever had been notified from Wellesbourne. One of these had been admitted to the Joint Infectious Hospital, and the other two were being nursed at home. A case of suspected diptheria was removed to the joint hospital, but on further investigation it proved to be tonsilitis.

October 28, 1950

Stratford: "Bless this house and all that dwell therein." With these words, Mr Raleigh Adam, the chairman of the Birmingham Regional Hospital Board, officially opened the new South Warwickshire Children's Recovery Hospital at Stratford on Tuesday afternoon. The hospital occupies the same building as the old Stratford Isolation Hospital.

October 30, 1975

Stratford: Warwickshire County Council were attacked this week for holding up house building on 13 acres of derelict land at the Old Town station because of a road scheme that could never be carried out.
