A PILOT scheme designed to turn more of the district's workforce into bookworms is in danger of falling at the first hurdle.
The threat follows a visit by Stourport Library's mobile unit to carpet factory Brintons where workers had the chance to borrow books during their lunch hour - but nobody used the facility in more than two hours.
A library spokeswoman said the initiative was in grave danger of being shelved unless workers from the company supported a further visit to the Stourport Road factory which is being arranged for next month.
She said: "We were very disappointed as our stops at residential areas prove very popular and we had hoped for similar success at Brintons.
"They were actually one of the firms which reacted most positively when we asked who would be interested in seeing us."
She added: "Nothing is being abandoned yet but we will seriously look at scrapping visits to Brintons and other companies if we don't get any customers next time.
"We need to consider time and expense and it may be we can spend our time more resourcefully elsewhere."
