WHILE many youngsters cut their musical teeth on traditional instruments like the guitar, violin or flute - or even take to sampling dance beats on mixing decks - not many take up the didgeridoo.

Matt Haines, however, has discovered that his passion is for the ancient Australian Aboriginal wind instrument, more often associated with the Outback than the Vale.

The Evesham High School year 10 pupil has been attending regular lessons at the Aboriginalia shop in Broadway since receiving the wooden pipe as a present last Christmas. Matt also hopes it will also help him complete his Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme silver award.
