AFTER seeing and listening to what has been said since the pay of Wyre Forest District Council service heads was publicised, the members of this Unison branch wish to know how these rises can be justified in view of the fact that:

1 The Government tells us we must prove that we are giving best value. Are we?

2 Members whose jobs have changed have been told that they must wait until after job evaluation before their jobs will be regraded and they get any remuneration for the extra work they are doing.

3 That we have been told that even after job evaluation there will be no extra money to pay higher salaries if the evaluations come out in favour of higher grades.

4 That some basic services are struggling to maintain output with lack of manpower and equipment.

We can, therefore, only condemn what is seen as a massive rise in pay for some when, as usual, the majority have to wait and put up with the extra pressures that are being exerted, with nothing to look forward to.

It is of little wonder that morale is very low and will remain so with this kind of exaggerated elitism and favour for the few.
