EVESHAM United cruised to their seventh league win of the season following a comfortable 3-0 success against Rocester at Mill Street last Saturday.

It was a game United dominated from start to finish, and despite the uneven playing surface, at times they played some of their best football of the season.

Despite the absence of leading scorer Sam Bowen through injury, United created numerous chances, especially in the first half and after scoring early in the second they took their foot off the gas, but could have easily doubled their final tally.

United deservedly took the lead in the 14th minute. The impressive Steve Taylor headed on a clearance to on-loan John Deakin, who cleverly beat Matt Simpson before laying the ball back into the path of Taylor who clinically netted his first goal of the season from 12 yards.

On 28 minutes United went further ahead. Phil Preedy made ground down the left before crossing to Deakin who coolly swept the ball home at the far post. It took United only a minute into the second half to go 3-0 in front. Preedy was again the provider when his low cross was glanced in on the volley by the hard working Roberts.

United: Beattie, Smith, Pendleton, West, Powell, Deakin, Wolsey, McCartan (Brown 86), Taylor, Roberts (Pratt 76), Preedy. Sub not used, Parmenter. Attendance: 110.

On Saturday United entertain Bedworth United at Common Road in the Dr Martens Western Division, kick-off 3pm.

The match is being sponsored by London and Scandinavian Mettalurgical Co Ltd, Rotherham and the match ball by Black and White, Evesham.

Next Wednesday United's Youth team take on Malvern Town at Common Road in the first round of the Worcestershire FA Youth Cup, kick-off 7.30pm.

Last week, United's Youth team travelled to play Worcester City in the Midland Floodlit Youth League, and lost 4-1. Scott Sutherland scored for the Robins.

United have released midfielder Michael Stephenson because of his college commitments.

Evesham are running a coach to Leatherhead for the FA Trophy game on November 4. The coach is due to leave the High Street at 10am.

There will be a programme fair and a sale of football memorabilia at Evesham United's social club on Sunday. The event will run from 11.30am-2.30pm and entry is free.
