I AM aware of some local misunderstandings over the issue of the possible provision of disabled parking spaces in Church Street, Kidderminster, and I would like to put the record straight.
The current traffic order for Church Street does not allow any waiting and following a proposal by David Lock MP, I agreed to pursue the possibility of an amendment to the order to allow for three one-hour parking spaces for the disabled.
This was to enable easier visits to the various professional practices (dentists, solicitors, chiropodists, doctors) in Church Street.
The Highways Partnership Forum (three county councillors and three district councillors) have considered this issue and, following their advice, we are progressing the necessary process to amend the legal order and we should be able to provide these spaces within the next few months.
