IF you were thinking of buying tickets for Avonbank Brass Band's autumn concert at Evesham Arts Centre - forget it.

All 300 tickets for the November 5 gig were sold out days ago.

This year the programme features cornet virtuoso Philip McCann and Evesham man Paul Alexander is MC for the evening.

Band spokesman Val Trim said they were extremely pleased with the response the concert had attracted.

"Our thanks go to the Friends of Avonbank Brass Band who have done so much of the spadework leading up to the concert to guarantee its success," she said.

"Dennis Grant, the band's musical director, has worked tirelessly to help prepare all the players to get to grips with some very testing music."

She said the band had enjoyed an influx of new players in recent months, many of whom had been attracted by its improving standards.

"Negotiations are under way already for the next spring and autumn concerts to maintain the momentum of recent years," said Mrs Trim.

"So anyone who missed out this time needs to make sure they watch out for next time."
