A BROMSGROVE mum is "sickened" after discovering cash-strapped county bosses spent £5m on new computers but refused to buy her disabled daughter a special chair.
Karen Lane, whose ten-year-old daughter, Karis, has cerebral palsy and Turner's Syndrome has spoken out after Worcestershire County Council made the purchase last week.
She has been battling with the authority for five years because it won't foot Karis's residential school bill and insists her needs can be met at a mainstream school.
The council recently refused to pay for a support chair for Karis and her mum said she was upset the authority had splashed out on computers to link its County Hall base to the social services offices.
The department is facing a £4.6m deficit.
Karen said: "The county should be giving support externally not internally.
"It always pleads poverty but can find £5m for some computers.
"The vulnerable suffer and I am sickened."
The cash will be drip-fed to the council £1m a year for the next five years by the Government.
A council spokeswoman said: "Eventually we have to pay it back."
