AT the last meeting, members were taken along the River Severn from its source in Plynlimon in Mid Wales at a height of 2,468 feet, to Bridgnorth.
The speaker, Brian Draper, has been given the MBE for his service to the people of the Upper Severn Valley in his capacity as environmental officer of the Severn Trent River Authority.
His talk, as expected, was full of fact, humour and anecdote and his booklet on the Upper Severn was eagerly snapped up at the end of a memorable evening. He will undoubtedly return to complete the journey from Bridgnorth to the Severn Estuary.
At the next meeting on Friday at 7.30pm Howard Drury, gardening expert and broadcaster, will give an evening full of hints and tips.
Meetings are at the Abbey High School. For more details, call 892463.
