BEFORE the luncheon on October 11, a two-minute silence was held in memory of Vi Adcock, a founder member.
After an excellent lunch, speaker Jenny Thwaites was introduced and gave a talk on the "Artistry of Knitting."
Jenny lives in Broadway and comes from an artistic family and was taught how to knit at the age of seven by her grandmother.
Members were given an insight into the history of knitting, which existed at the time of Cleopatra and came to Britain in the 8th century.
A knitting guild was set up by men, women were not allowed to join until they were widowed.
Jenny brought a selection of articles, including jackets, suits, coats and pictures which were also knitted, including the frames.
These are then threaded onto dowling and stretched as a painting.
She uses the Intarsia method of knitting which causes no distortion.
All the designs are her own creation inspired from her many walks in the countryside and also from pictures in Snowshill Manor.
The next meeting is on Wednesday, November 8, and the speaker will be Jackie Pamment on "Shiatsu Therapy."
