MEMBERS braved the very wet and windy weather to attend the October meeting and all the gloom was dispelled by the speaker, Lynn Stevens, with her show business stories.

Her great-grandmother, grandmother and mother were all dressers to the famous stars of their day and her parents kept a theatrical boarding house, which led to her own stage career and involvement with many famous people.

Members will be heading for Worcester on October 28, when a WI craft fair will be held at the guild hall and Kingfisher WI have a stall to sell hand-made items.

This is open to the general public and is an opportunity to buy some early Christmas presents!

Members were told that the vests made were among the 1,700 sent by VCO Jackie Gregory to Gambia in September and the money she had raised, amounting to £1,300 had been allocated with £500 to the Gambia Clinic and £800 to ACWW.

The next meeting is on November 13 and all members and friends welcome.
