A SUCCESSFUL High Street shop in Bromsgrove is under threat after the company that owns them went into receivership.
Motorworld, a car parts shop with three employees, must find a buyer or close after parent company Finelist Ltd ran up huge debts.
Official administrators Ernst and Young said 50 Motorworld branches out of a total of 350 have closed, because they were trading at a loss, but they hoped to keep most shops open.
Bromsgrove branch manager Tim Court said business was good at his shop.
"We're trading as much as ever here, and things haven't taken a turn for the worse. We were shocked when we heard the news," he said.
The receivers said they had been called in by creditors of the £500m-turnover business.
The firms will be advertised for sale this week for the first time.
A spokesman for Ernst and Young said: "We are running the business as a going concern, and that is how we want to sell it."
