ROVERS slumped to a third league defeat on the trot last night as their season wilts from bad to worse.

And if George Rooney's team building doesn't start to reap positive results soon, the fans will soon be calling for the emergency services in a bid to halt Rovers' slide.

Both teams came into the match on the back of 4-0 defeats but it was Blakenall's burly line-up who looked more determined to erase that misery.

Their enthusiasm was rewarded seven minutes into the game when striker Matt Coppin drilled a hard low shot past Nore Gabbidon's left to open the scoring.

The home side were unlucky when Rovers drew level five minutes before the interval. A deep inswinging corner from Michael Jameson was met by Lee Harper, and the Blakenall defender could only stomach the ball past his keeper, Paul McHale.

This should have spurred Rovers on to greater things but just seconds before half time Jon Worsey's mazy run ended in a neat left foot screamer that raced past Gabbidon.

Steve Round completed their deserved victory on 72 minutes with a sweet strike.

Rovers: Gabbidon, Burrow, Nielson (sub Cameron 73mins), Townsend, S Frost, Turpin, Benbow, Jameson, Owen, Burgess, Pountney.

Attendance: 70.

Rovers man of the match: Craig Pountney.
