TWO goals by striker Dean Roberts helped Evesham Unit-ed to their second Dr Martens League Western Division 'double' of the season following last night's 3-1 win against Rugby United at Butlin Road.

United forged ahead on 13 minutes. Mark Wolsey made a great run to the byline before crossing to Roberts, who volley-ed in an unstoppable shot.

Steve McCartan's free kick fell to Paul West who shot over, and Roberts' low drive was only half stopped by Rugby keeper Jamie Cleland, but no United player was on hand to add the final touch.

Andy Smith made a terrific run down the right before shooting just over, but on 62 minutes he sent an inch-perfect pass over the Rugby defence for Roberts to run onto and beat Cleland with a powerful drive from 20 yards to make it 2- 0.

Robbie Beard touched home Paul O'Brien's free kick on 78 minutes to give the home side hope. But two minutes later United sealed victory when John Deakin curled in a stunning strike.

Bromsgrove Rovers slumped to their third Dr Martens League Western Division defeat on the trot when they were beaten 3-1 at Blakenall last night.

Blakenall's enthusiasm was rewarded after seven minutes when striker Matt Coppin drilled a hard low shot past Nore Gabbidon.

The home side could consider themselves unlucky when Rov-ers drew level five minutes before the interval. A deep inswinging corner from Michael Jameson was met by Lee Harper, but the Blakenall defender could only turn ball past his keeper Paul McHale.

This should have spurred Rovers on to greater things but just seconds before half time Jon Worsey's mazy run ended in a neat left foot screamer that raced past Gabbidon for the lead at the break. Steve Round completed the victory on 72 minutes.

Redditch United notched their first win in six games after beating Bedworth United 2-1 in the Dr Martens Western Division.

And they had to do it with midfielder Matty Hall in goal for more than half the match after keeper Dave Adey was sent off for bringing down Adam Webster late in the first period.

Martin Myers opened with a 20-yard efforton 18 minutes before striker Paul Danks added a second nine minutes later.

Ian Drewitt grabbed a late consolation for the home side.
