RESIDENTS will enjoy festive frolics this Christmas thanks to forward-thinking traders.

Exciting celebrations have been revealed by the Droitwich Spa Association for Retail, Tourism and Services (DARTS).

The first event is on Saturday November 25 when residents will gather to watch the festive lights being switched on in High Street, St Andrew's Street and Friar Street.

Droitwich Spa's Festival of Music and Light begins at 3.30pm and choirs, a band and handbell ringers will add seasonal cheer.

DARTS is also hosting a pantomime fair on Friday December 8 and the following day.

Most shops are staying open late on the Friday and the streets will be bustling thanks to fair rides, a mini train, theatre performances, music and entertainment.

Some retailers plan to trade on Sundays during December and many intend to open on Christmas Eve.

Traders are relied on to help create Christmas spirit in town and this year they are needed to provide wall space and power for new decorations.

Last year, the cost of powering a string of lights for six weeks was between £10 and £15.

In conjunction with the Advertiser, DARTS is calling on shopkeepers to enter our window dressing competition. The theme this year is carols.

DARTS Christmas events sub-committee member Jan Bolton said: "I hope everyone will get in the festive spirit and enjoy the events."
