A COUNSELLING service which offers support to Droitwich Spa residents who have lost a loved one, could be forced to close.

Bromsgrove Bereavement Counselling Service has served the town for 20 years offering confidential advice from a specially trained counsellor to help people come to terms with their loss.

The charity needs new members to join its committee which is vital to keeping it up and running.

Without it the charity is non-constitutional and it cannot continue to provide a helpline for the hundreds of bereaved folk who benefit from having someone to talk to.

Over the last few months the group's vice-chairman has died and other committee members, who have been with the service since it was set up in 1980, have retired.

The committee meets five times a year on a Thursday night and is responsible for making policy decisions and ensuring the smooth running of the service.

Counselling service manager Sue Wood said: "We have an excellent team of counsellors who give their time voluntarily and they are trained and supervised by a professional tutor.

"But our management committee has become depleted to the point of near collapse"

If you are interested in joining the team call Sue on 01384 372987.
