REDDITCH businesses which have excelled at giving disabled shoppers a high standard of service received awards for their efforts at a presentation ceremony as part of the town's Shopmobility flag day.
During the last year, 60 town centre shops and stalls signed up to the Happy to Help scheme, which encourages Redditch traders to ensure the best possible support and welcome for disabled shoppers.
At the ceremony in the Kingfisher Centre, comedian Lee Wilson presented awards and prizes to the winners:
l Large shop, Marks & Spencer.
l Small shop, Druckers.
l Market stall, Rainbow Nursery.
The small shop award is presented in memory of the Rev Margaret Simpson, who was herself disabled, who worked as the social worker attached to Shopmobility for many years and was a Happy to Help trainer shortly before she died.
