A CAR stolen by youngsters was pushed into a wall of an office block where someone was working, a police officer has revealed.

WPc Sally McMillan, of Crabbs Cross police, said that youngsters had taken the car, parked on the Dunlop Road Industrial Estate, and pushed it into a wall.

WPc McMillan said: "There was a typist working in the office block where the car was pushed in to.

"And had the car not hit the kerb first, the wall could have collapsed on top of the woman. She was very lucky."

WPc McMillan warned that somebody would get seriously hurt if youngsters continued to cause criminal damage in this way.

And she pleaded with parents to ensure they know where their children are.

She said: "This is criminal behaviour, they are damaging people's cars and buildings. It is not a children's playground and the fact is before long somebody will get hurt."

Youngsters have also caused trouble at St Augustine's School and last week ripped open bags of cement powder from a neighbouring building site, scattering the contents.

Headteacher of the Stonepits Lane schoo,l Carol Buchanan, said: "I would stress that there is building work going on at the school and Banners Lane and they are dangerous places for youngsters to be playing."

Redditch police can be contacted on 584888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
