A WISH list has been drawn up by the Alexandra Hospital's League of Friends in a desperate attempt to kickstart a £35,000 appeal for a new play area.

The league wants to build a hi-tech playground to help young patients' recovery but the campaign has stalled.

The wish list is to be sent to businesses across Redditch and is available at the hospital for anyone interested in supporting the project.

League chairman Pat Hadley said: "People can choose a piece of the equipment we have listed, which has been costed and has passed all the safety regulations.

''It's a bit like a wedding list."

The playground will include specially adapted equipment for able-bodied and disabled youngsters and will be the first play area based at the hospital.

Mrs Hadley said: "We have raised about £23,000 so far but the appeal is going quite slowly at the moment and we need to get it going again.

"We were originally hoping the playground would be up and running in September or this month but now we don't know when it will be finished.

"I'm hoping against hope it will all be done by the end of next spring."

Anyone who would like to sponsor a piece of equipment from the list can call the league at the hospital on 503030 or Mrs Hadley on 0121 445 3084.
