POLICE are investigating a vicious and bizarre assault which took place in a taxi parked at a rank in the town centre.

The 19-year-old female victim got into the taxi parked in Queen Street at about 2.30am on Sunday, October 15, and was followed into the car by another woman.

Once in the car, the assailant grabbed the victim by her hair and repeatedly punched her in the head, leaving her concussed and with bruises and scratches.

During the assault the victim thinks she may have blacked out and when she came round, found her attacker had left the cab and was standing watching her.

The victim believes her attacker was the same person she had an argument with the night before in a nightclub.

The assailant is described as a white woman in her 20s, about 5ft 5ins tall and of medium build.

She had straight, shoulder length, mousy brown hair which was worn loose and had a spotty complexion.

Pc Dianne Knight, of Redditch police, said there were people at the taxi rank who may have witnessed something.

She added: "This was a nasty assault and I would urge anybody who witnessed the attack or was in the area at the time to contact me at Redditch police station on 584888."
