I WAS amused to see the "indignation" evident in Councillor Saint's letter (Advertiser, October 18).

Since regaining power in Stratford, the Tory machine has crashed about amid the council's finances like an African buffalo, confident it must attack something but not sure what, and with little thought for the consequences.

Even projects dear to the hearts of its own supporters have been seriously threatened by this headlong rush to put clear water between itself and the Liberal Democrats.

No doubt, once the leading Tories begin to improve their grasp of the workings of local government and realise the effect "slash and burn" policies have on staff morale and their less fortunate constituents, common sense will begin to prevail. Until then, stand by for more misdirected political machoism.
