IT was Clements Bros Cup action last week in the Bromsgrove and Redditch Table Tennis League.

The Newton Works A team of Chris Maiden, Mark Fiddian and Michael Kendall were too good for Astwood Bank and came away from the Bank 9-0 winners.

It was a similar story at the Lickey where the Monarchs trio of Sid Hodgetts, Eric Hardman and Martin Clarke were too good for Hillcrest A, winning 9-0.

Lickey Panthers and Barnt Green Hornets had a much closer game, the Panthers winning 5-4. Lickey Panthers won the first three games, but then the Hornets won the next four. Geoff Unitt then beat Jan Anderson to make it four each, and then Lyn Davies beat Paul Grigg on the final game to put his team on the next round.

SPSP went out 5-4 to Barnt Green A, captain Mark Cornish won his three games for Barnt Green and was well backed up by David Stuckey who won two. Steve Colley did best for SPSP winning two.

The three remaining fixtures all ended on 9-0 victories, Himbleton A beat Droitwich C, Barnt Green B beat Hillcrest B and Droitwich A beat Newton Works C.
