AFTER being promoted into Division Two of the League as champions last season Malvern Ladies Hockey Club have begun their preparations for this new season.

MALVERN LADIES 7, PERSHORE 0

On Saturday they played a second friendly and were keen to play good hockey after drawing their first game.

It was excellent play down the right hand side that tended to over power the Pershore defence ad it wasn't long before Amy Forsythe put Malvern into the lead. Kerry Broadhead-Evans doubled the lead after a cross from the right and Jo Hall tapped the ball in after a shot from Sian Jones - whoops - Humphreys (congratulations Sian) to make it 3-0 at half time.

In the second half Pershore began to put Malvern under pressure but with some excellent saves from Malvern's keeper and their very strong defence, Pershore were unable to score.

After this pressure Malvern started to play the fluent hockey of the first half, Kerry Broadhead-Evans scored again and Jo Hall scored her second to put the further ahead. Malvern were unable to make the most of their penalty corners, but with them playing as a team in open play they were able to score another two through Kerry Broadhead-Evans making her tally to four.

It was a good all round performance by Malvern to win 7-0 and with a qualified coach with the team Malvern can improve on his and have a hard but successful season.

Training is at the Chase High School on Thursdays at 7pm. Anyone interested is welcome.
