MALVERN Radar earned their first Worcester Saturday League Premier Division points of the season in this seven-goal thriller at Lower Howsell Road.

MALVERN RADAR 4, INKBERROW 3

Youngster Mark Taylor was Radar's top man notching a fine hat-trick and despite late pressure from the visitors, the home side hung on for victory. Radar welcomed back Neil Thompson from cricketing duties and gave a debut to Steve Field and both performed well.

Taylor opened the scoring in the 12th minute when he nipped in to capitalise on hesitant defending and toe-ended the ball in from six yards. He added his and Radar's second, ten minutes later showing neat control and turning to fire past Mark Adams in the Inkberrow goal.

This woke up the visitors who put great pressure on the Radar goal right up to half time and shots from Simon Ledbury and Tom Harris both clipped the crossbar ad Harris then had a great chance only to shoot straight at keeper Steve Green did well to block the effort.

Half time seemed to break the visitors' rhythm and Radar increased their lead on the hour when an excellent through ball from Darren Loader released Dave Cooper who raced clear and lobbed the ball over the advancing Adams.

The hard working Ledbury then pulled a goal back to made it 3-1 but Taylor added to Radar's tally scoring with an excellent right foot shot from the edge of the box.

Once again this seemed to encourage Inkberrow to raise their game ad Nick Ace and Richard Haines both scored in the closing stages to make the home defence worry but they held out to claim the three points.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Radar are at home to All Blacks, meeting at Lower Howsell at 2.15pm.

The Sunday side's fixture was called off because of the fuel crisis and this week the are at home to Audnam in the County Cup. The match is at Dukes Meadow, players to meet at 9.45am sharp.
