Many ladies and gentlemen have by them old or disused false teeth, which might as well be turned into money. Messrs. R. D. & J. B. Fraser, of Princes Street, Ipswich (established since 1833), buy old false teeth. If you send your teeth to them they will remit you by return of post the utmost value; or, if preferred, they will make you the best offer, and hold the teeth for your reply. Malvern Gazette, September 21, 1900.

Harriet Cale of Ledbury was summoned for very obscene language on September 5.

Defendant appeared very dejected in the dock. Supt Phillips said he was passing the Lower Cross in his trap when he met Mrs Cale.

She seemed very excited and said, "I want to speak to thee." Witness replied that he was in a hurry, whereupon defendant cursed him in a loud voice, because he was sending her son to gaol.

Detergents - the old off-the-ration washing aids - were holding their own in the battle for the housewife's favour at the end of the first week of unlimited de-rationed soaps.

Most shops reported that the situation is unchanged. Some women brought extra soap for store cupboards, but most continued to buy about the same quantity of detergents as before.

A store manager said: "I think that women have found from experience that detergents are specially good for some washing jobs." Malvern Gazette, September 22, 1950.

I heard of a local woman who single-handed picked 38 bushels of hops in one day at a hop farm in the district this week. At one shilling per bushel, the returns would approximate £11 weekly.

Reports from local hopyards indicate the crop is a very heavy one this year. Some growers are finding difficulty getting labour because if it. Ledbury Reporter, September 22, 1950.

MALVERN College boys have always known that Sir had all the answers - but now it's official.

For Mr John Hart, head of the Classics department at the college, has reached the semi-finals of BBC TV's "Mastermind" competition.

The boys at Malvern College were given special permission to watch Mr Hart, of 28 Geraldine Road, Malvern, score a resounding victory over three other Midlands competitors last Thursday, working up a lead with his special subject - Athens in the Fifth Century BC - and polishing off the remaining opposition with his general knowledge. Malvern Gazette, September 25, 1975.

More than 500 blooms brought a riot of colour to the local community when Ledbury Floral Society staged a two-day exhibition of chrysanthemums and dahlias last weekend.

A few days before there was a sharp frost, but the gardeners compensated for the drop in chrysanthemums by displaying more dahlias than usual. Ledbury Reporter, September 25, 1975.
