The bell-ringers of Cradley are enjoying the sweet sound of success, having been awarded a £50 Millennium Prize in the Herefordshire Village of the Year Competition.
The award was in recognition of the £62,000 raised by the village towards the recasting of old bells and the addition of two new ones in the tower of St James the Great Church.
Tower Captain, Chris Roberts said: "It's great news, and nice to know we have received recognition for all the hard work."
Three years ago, the appeal team was turned down for a Millennium Grant, but under the leadership of appeal committee chairman, Peter Wynne-James, the £62,000 needed for the Millennium project was found.
Mr Wynne-James himself wrote to various charitable organisations for grants.
Other funding was raised through village events and donations from villagers.
Mr Roberts said: "We are very grateful to everyone in the village. It is quite a significant sum to put together."
