BRINGING Malvern Town Council together with the people and businesses in its area is the task of Selina Saveker, the newly-appointed town projects manager.

Selina only started her job last week, but she's no stranger to Malvern, having previously worked for the Community Council of Hereford and Worcester, based at Great Malvern railway station.

A native of Northern Ireland, she has lived in Herefordshire for many years and has also run her own marketing and development firm.

Her role at the Town Council will be five-fold, the first of which is management of the Council's new information centre in the old Manders building on Belle Vue Terrace.

She will also take over the town centre management role which has been unfilled since Malvern Hills District Council bailed out of funding a manager at the start of this year.

She will also be in charge of building relationships between the Council and individuals, businesses and other bodies in the town.

Community events - such as Christmas shopping - and working with the community in various projects will also be on Selina's agenda.

And last, but by no means least, she'll be in charge of securing external funding for all sorts of projects.

She said; "I am very much looking forward to meeting everyone and getting involved with the various groups that I will be dealing with."

She stressed that her remit is very much more than dealing with shopkeepers in the town centre; she is interested in all local employers, in all areas including Barnards Green and Malvern Link, and in community groups such as those in Langlands and Brook Farm.

"The information centre is a wonderful idea and I am really looking forward to working there," she said.
