MALVERN'S Olympic hope is gearing herself up to represent Britain in the cycling events in Sydney next week.

Ceris Gilfillan, aged 20, from Welland, is due to take part in the women's road race on Tuesday and the individual time trial on Saturday.

The former Chase pupil has already won two national championships this year and was originally aiming for the 2004 Olympics but her performance has pushed her straight to the top of the field.

Her parents, Jill and Ross, have flown out to cheer Ceris on in her aim to win Britain another medal.

Ripple vet Graham Potts is already celebrating gold medal success.

Mr Potts was asked to join the Australian Olympic Equestrian team as team vet.

The Aussie team picked up a gold in the team Three-Day Event earlier this week, pushing Britain into silver.
