LOOKING at Roy Booker's excellent picture of the Severn from the Glover's Needle area, I cannot see why man-made "improvements" are needed here, quayhead or otherwise.
There are lovely trees, the eye-catching rippling of the water, swans, a beautiful bridge, an inviting seat... what more can you wish for?
We have the same problem in Malvern. Someone is continually dreaming up something to slap on the landscape, thus we have Sir Edward next to a mini Stonehenge, and a water feature, which as one writer observes "puts the great man in an embarrassing position when viewed from a certain angle".
