MALVERN Rugby Club's Midlands Two West fixture away at Selly Oak was postponed on Saturday due to the fuel shortage.

Malvern played a hastily arranged friendly away at Old Richians and won 31-22 but David Robins, Director of Rugby, was less than happy after the game.

Mr Robins said: "After such a good start I am disappointed with our overall performance. Our forwards had little shape to their game today, and we were very poor at the line out and, especially at receipt kick off, where one mistake in particular led to a Richians score. However, we got the result, and the pluses were mainly to do with our back play.

"Bo Kristofferson made his debut, having just got off the plane from Denmark. Unfortunately, it looks a s though Paul Jenkin may be hampered by a knock to his ankle, which is a pity, having shown all of his old sparkle after so long out through injury. We will be working hard in training this week to ensure we are back to our best for Saturday's key match against a rejuvenated Wolverhampton."

The fixture against Wolverhampton, the early league leaders, kicks off at 3pm tomorrow (Saturday) at Spring Lane.

With two good wins behind them, the Black Countrymen will be out to avenge the drubbing they received at Malvern's hands last season.
