MALVERN Town have had one Banks's Brewery League Premier Division point deducted and been fined £75 for fielding an ineligible player.
The League has ruled that Martin Phillpotts had not been properly signed on before Town's match with Tividale as correct procedures were not followed.
Town's assistant manager Richard Anson said: "I think the point deduction was a bit harsh as by naming Martin in the team we proved that we were not trying to deceive anyone, but I guess it is difficult for the League and they cannot afford to set precedents.
"I think there is a difference between an innocent mistake and someone deliberately fielding an ineligible player."
