GIANT'S Causeway can emulate the great Mill Reef at Ascot tomorrow.

The "Iron Horse" can land his sixth Group One success on the trot in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and equal the achievement of the 1971 Derby winner.

Giant's Causeway's achievement in winning five consecutive races at the highest level is all the more remarkable in that he has done it all in one season.

After finishing second in the 2000 Guineas at both Newmarket and the Curragh, Aidan O'Brien's charge began his fantastic run in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

It was there he first displayed the characteristic that has made him so popular with the racing public - an absolute refusal to be beaten.

He has since added victories in the Coral-Eclipse, Sussex Stakes, Juddmonte International and Irish Champion Stakes in the same fashion.

Some have crabbed his form, claiming that the narrow margins of his triumphs show that he is not champion material.

But the son of Storm Cat only ever does enough to win and it will need a real superstar or unusual conditions to beat him.

Heavy going could be a problem and if the heavens were to really open then Prix du Moulin winner Indian Lodge would become a real threat.

Crystal Music can maintain her unbeaten record in the day's other Group One contest on the card, the Meon Valley Stud Fillies' Mile.

The John Gosden-trained filly was an impressive winner of her maiden at Newmarket before winning a minor event at Sandown despite still looking green.

There is more improvement to come and she can complete the hat-trick.

The day's big handicap is the Tote Trifecta Stakes which can fall to Duke Of Modena.

Toby Balding's charge has been in fine form this season, winning at Kempton, Salisbury and Newbury.

However, his best performance probably came over this course and distance in July when he finished fourth behind Tillerman in the Tote International Handicap from a poor draw.

El Gran Papa and Tayseer filled second and third that day and have won at the St Leger meeting and the Stewards' Cup respectively since, while fifth-placed Persiano went on to win the William Hill Mile.

The three-year-old disappointed at Newbury last time but can be forgiven that effort.

He acts on any ground and is a confident selection.

In the opening race of the Festival meeting, the Old Vic Cumberland Lodge Stakes, Mutamam can follow up his impressive victory at Kempton.

Kuwait Trooper by seven lengths in the September Stakes last time and a repeat of that should see him score here.
