Ledbury Poetry Festival has organised a reading by a top writer to celebrate National Poetry Day on October 5.
The Burgage Hall in Church Lane will be the venue, from 7pm, for an event called "Out of Silence".
Poet Lawrence Sail will read various poems he has written on the subject of silence and different kinds of silences.
He said: "The poems are concerned with the nature of silence and its effect on our lives."
His lines, which have been set to music by the composer Isabelle Ryder, were inspired by a number of locations, including a closed supermarket, a Buddhist monastery, an open boat at sea and a hot air balloon.
