1st POWICK Brownies enjoyed a walk last Friday evening and in spite of rain early in the day the weather cleared and enabled the walk to go ahead.

Twenty two children and seven adults walked from Bush Hill Farm, through the apple orchard and down to Bush Hill Copse. Views of the Malvern's were obscured by cloud but after a diversion along a muddy track to view the duck pond at the Retreat, the path led to the Three Nuns.

Powick Parish Hall Management Committee has arranged a Harvest Supper for Saturday, October 7 in the Hall from 8pm. The evening will take the form of a Cheese &Wine Evening with buffet and bar an a raffle will help raise funds for Hall furnishings. The entertainment will be provided by "Unforgettable", the duo of Stephen Watkins and Susie Walden on piano and cello with songs by Derek Stokes. Powick Parish Ramblers - nine adults, one child and a dog - set out in bright sunshine last Saturday morning for a five mile walk led by Bill and Pat Ash. Starting from Newland Common the walk crossed part of the Madresfield Estate, by the Saw Mills towards Upper Woodsfield Farm and Bosworth Farm. Crossing Jennett Tree Lane, the path led up to Ridgeway farm with views of the Malvern's and then down to the A449 Worcester to Malvern Road near the Halfway House. It then continued over the road to Lodge Farm Cottages and Little Monksfield Farm, continuing over Carey's Brook and alongside the railway line. The path ended at Stocks Lane and the short walk over the level crossing led to the Swan Inn. The walk had crossed the Parishes of Powick, Madresfield and Newland.

Next Tuesday, Sept-ember 26 there will be another walk starting at St Peter's Church at 10am led by Chris Evans.

The Harvest Family Service at St Peter's will be held at 11am on Sunday, October 8.

A concert in aid of St Peter's Restoration Fund is being held in Powick Parish Hall on Sunday, October 15. Book this date now for musical entertainment provided by live musicians, playing light music including jazz and blues. Tickets will be on sale priced £3.
