ON September 13 Longdon Churchwom-en's Fellowship members were guests of Tewkesbury Methodist Young Wives and enjoyed a very personal interpretation of Creation by Sally Harvey of Naunton.

Mrs Harvey took seven days of creation as a theme to show a marvellous collection of photographic slides, many of them local, illustrating the wonder of God's creation through landscape, water, plants, animals etc. It was a visual treat which members thoroughly enjoyed. Afterwards there was a very lavish buffet supper, also much enjoyed. They were only sorry that the fuel crisis prevented many of their members from getting to this event.

The next meeting is on Wednesday, Sept-ember 27. This will start at 7pm in Longdon churchyard with the planting of a tree to commemorate the life and work of the Rev Lawrence Davies who died earlier this year. Afterwards the meeting will start in the village hall when Sally King and a friend will talk on 'Silk printing'. Visitors, guests and new members are welcome.

It was lovely to see so many people at Bridge Builders on Sunday September 17, where they watched part of a video of Jesus telling the parable of the Sower and the Seed, played 'blindman's breakfast' using pizza and enjoyed making bread.

St Mary's Church was beautifully decorated for Harvest Festival last Sunday. Thank you to all those people who worked so hard at their arrangements. It was lovely to see the choir helping to lead the worship and contributing two anthems. Rev Chris Moss spoke about the ongoing crisis for farmers and the rural community and how important it was to keep praying for their needs and to acknowledge our dependence on God in our daily lives.

This Sunday (September 24) the service at St Mary's will be at 10am (family service). There are still places available at the Harvest Supper on Saturday, September 23. Tickets are available from Roger Woodward on (01684) 833574 (£3 for adults and £1.50 for children). Time 7 for 7.30pm.

Magazine assembly takes place at the vicarage on Tuesday September 26 at 2.30pm.
